Following a fire which largely destroyed 4 properties along a short Georgian, town centre avenue in Dundalk, we were commissioned to design the reinstatement of numbers 4 and 5.

The brief was to maximise the retail potential of the ground and first floors. Although this was essentially an exercise in maximising the retail floor area, the first floor still needed good visual connectivity with the customer to make it a successful solution. This meant that a balance was found whereby retail area at first floor was ceded so as to provide gallery views from and to the upper level.

The Facade design was the subject of some study with the rigour and austerity of the Georgian street being the defining influence. The final proposal retains the rhythm and structure of the street with a proportionate, double height glass section of the facade being used as the shop-front.
